What a lineup of fantastic musicians graced our stage on July 14th. Nat Chaikin, Spirit, Mike Moroski and Manuel Susarret were all amazing and gracious in the heat of a summer afternoon. Lemonade served by student volunteers helped keep us happy. A particular highlight was the duet improvisation by Spirit and Nat on Spirit’s song “I’m not Lonely.” You can see the YouTube video here! Mike kept us laughing and we heard a premier of his original song dedicated to his lovely wife. Manuel brought two of his students and they made us a kickin’ guitar blues jam. The trees provided lovely shade, and the folks provided great community.
Thank you to Pleasant Ridge resident Greg Longeway and his band White Line Fever for an amazing concert! The rains cleared and the people came! They got to hear fabulous music, enjoy the food provided by Red Balloon, do community art sponsored by ArtsWave, chat with neighbors, and make new friends. Liz Wolfe was in from New York City and created an impromptu ukulele and guitar singing and teaching session that had people joining in with beautiful voices and playing. Student volunteers were out helping with the Cup by Cup Café, the Leaf by Leaf booth, the Community Felting project, and the art table. Some well-behaved dog visitors and a gift of hula-hoops brought even more fun to the event. Everyone’s generosity, especially the band for donating their time, warmed and brightened the day. See you at the next concert on July 14th!
